About 10 minutes west of the city on highway 17, you’ll find the sleepy town of Lively. With a small retail, and large residential area, residents are more inclined to be outdoors than in shopping malls. The area also includes the neighbouring towns of Naughton, and Whitefish, just a little further west.
The community is surrounded by nature, with an abundance of hiking and nordic ski trails (including the immensely popular Walden XC), wooded areas, and lakes. On the weekends you’ll see plenty of city dwellers head west to enjoy the outdoors. From a commuter perspective, the retail section of Lively is limited, but it does have a grocery store, and the necessary Tim Horton’s to get you through the week. Being such a vast area, most residents rely on a car to get to where they need to, with easy access to the city via the four-laned highway 17.
Real Estate in the area varies, beginning with the smaller homes along the “numbered streets” originally built for mining workers, and working up to several newer construction subdivisions. There is also a large amount of acreage/large lot properties spread across the region, meaning there is literally something for every lifestyle. The community is popular among Vale employees working west of the city, as well as those employed at the nearby Walden Industrial Park.
If outdoors is the preference, then the Lively community is hard to beat. With reasonable city access, an abundance of real estate options, and some incredible outdoor spaces, it’s no wonder why this bedroom community is so popular.
