The largest by both land and population of the bedroom communities, The Valley collectively encompasses the smaller towns of Blezard Valley, Val Therese, Val Caron and Hanmer. About a 10 minute drive from the north end of the city will get you to the edge of the Valley, making it just far enough to feel “country” without being too far from the city. This largely francophone community is a favourite landing spot for residents seeking some outdoors, without sacrificing the essentials.
In regards to amenities, there’s not much the Valley doesn’t have, with a healthy mix of restaurants, retail shops, grocery stores, fitness centres and more. Residents need not venture into the city on a regular basis, except for specialty items or events. With two major retail hubs in Val Caron and Hanmer, there are plenty of options for your day-to-day needs.
One of the busiest real estate areas of Greater Sudbury, The Valley offers an option for just about anyone. There are mid-to-late-century houses of all sizes, newer subdivisions like Dominion Parc and Hummingbird, plenty of waterfront homes along Whitson Lake, and large acreages scattered across the area. With such a diverse real estate offering, The Valley really does feel like a small town of it’s own.
The entire region is filled with lush rolling hills, an abundance of parks, playgrounds, hiking paths, and snowmobile trails. With so much to offer from a residential, retail, and outdoors perspective, it’s no wonder why residents of The Valley are so passionate about their community.
